This overview is intended to provide some basic information about gastric bypass and LAP-BAND laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding procedures performed by the surgical team at Cahaba Valley Surgical Group, PC

Our accredited Center prides itself on a nearly 10-year history of performing bariatric surgery, or surgical procedures for weight loss. We do not view surgery as a ‘quick fix’, for weight loss, nor should it be a patient’s first consideration when contemplating weight loss methods. We apply stringent surgical candidate selection criteria, and consider each patient individually.

Our Bariatric Program, in conjunction with Shelby Baptist Medical Center, strives toward minimally invasive approaches toward bariatric surgery, using the following two primary procedures:
• Roux-en-y gastric bypass
• LAP-BAND laparoscopic adjustable gastric band
